Privacy notice

This notice explains what personal information The Next Chapter Life Coaching collects, why, and what you can do about it. It is written to meet the Data Protection (Jersey) Law 2018.
Who is responsible for your information
The controller is Michelle Goodenough, trading as The Next Chapter Life Coaching, Jersey, Channel Islands. You can reach me at coachingwithmichelle@yahoo.com.
I am registered with the Jersey Office of the Information Commissioner under registration number 66555.
What I collect
- When you use the enquiry form: your name, the email address or phone number you give me, anything you choose to write about your situation, and when you are usually free.
- When you message me directly: whatever you send by email or by direct message on Instagram, and the contact details attached to it.
- If we work together: the notes I keep about our sessions, and any scheduling details.
The website itself sets no cookies, runs no analytics and stores nothing in your browser. Fonts are served from this site rather than a third party, so no request about your visit is sent anywhere else.
Why I use it, and my lawful basis

Sensitive information
Coaching conversations can touch on health, relationships or beliefs. Under Jersey law that is special category information and needs a higher standard of care. Where I hold anything of that kind, I do so on the basis of your explicit consent, which you can withdraw at any time by telling me. You do not need to share anything sensitive in the enquiry form to book a call. A sentence about what is going on is plenty.
Who else sees it
- Formspree receives and forwards enquiry form submissions. It is based in the United States.
- Netlify hosts this website. Server logs may briefly record your IP address for security reasons.
- Yahoo Mail holds our email correspondence.
- Video calling, where we speak remotely rather than in person. Sessions are not recorded.
I do not sell your information, and I do not use it for advertising.
Information leaving Jersey
Some of the services above are based outside Jersey, mainly in the United States and the European Union. Where information is transferred, I rely on the providers’ standard contractual protections and choose providers that commit to an adequate standard of security.
How long I keep it
- Enquiries that do not lead to a session are deleted after six months.
- Client records and session notes are kept for two years after our last session, then deleted.
- Anything I must keep for tax or insurance reasons is kept for as long as those rules require.
How it is kept safe
Information is held on password protected devices and accounts, with two factor authentication where the provider offers it. Session notes are stored securely and are not shared without your agreement.
Your rights
Under the Data Protection (Jersey) Law 2018 you can ask me to:
- give you a copy of the information I hold about you
- correct anything that is wrong
- delete it, in most circumstances
- restrict or object to how I use it
- provide it in a portable form
- stop relying on your consent, where consent is the basis I use

Changes
If this notice changes, the updated version will appear on this page with a new date.
